Are you interested in international trade and understanding the forces shaping global shipping?
Would you like to gain hands-on experience in data analysis and market research in an international shipbroking company?
And would you enjoy turning data and market developments into insights that support brokers and clients in making informed commercial decisions?
We’re looking for two student assistants to join our research team in Copenhagen: one supporting our container team and one supporting our bulk/tankers team.
This is a role for someone who is analytically curious, structured, and eager to learn, with an interest in international trade, data, and translating complex market drivers into clear and structured insights.
You do not need prior knowledge of shipping, but you should be curious about what drives the shipping market, have an interest in understanding business needs and helping turn data into insights.
What we offer
With MB Shipbrokers, you become part of a global shipbroking company with more than a century of experience, a worldwide presence and a strong dedication to our customers.
You will join our Research team which supports our commercial side (shipbrokers) with market insights, share our insights and opinions of the current market with external clients, and develop and maintain analytical products based on the actual needs from the organisation. We also work closely with colleagues across departments and offices, identify opportunities for improvement and provide tools and products that create value in practice.
This role will give you insight into how commercial brokerage decisions are made and the data foundation hereof. You will support a global business, and see how needs from the organisation are translated into useful tools and improvements.
Beyond working in an international environment, you will become part of a social and welcoming office. Our Copenhagen office is located close to Østerport Station and has its own canteen serving freshly prepared food every day.
We also have an active social environment, with monthly Friday bars, student club events and Wednesday workouts.
Key responsibilities
As Student Assistants in Research, you will work approximately 15-20 hours per week to support the team in our daily research and analysis, helping us monitor market developments, work with data and support on weekly reports.
More specifically, you will help with:
· Contributing to our regular market research products, communicating key market developments and insights to both internal and external stakeholders
· Preparing and distributing our recurring market reports and updates, ensuring that clients receive relevant and up-to-date market data and insights.
· Contributing to larger research publications, presentations and market analyses covering developments across the global shipping market.
· Supporting smaller ad-hoc tasks and projects based on actual needs from the business
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for two students who are reliable, structured and comfortable working with both people and systems.
You may be studying, International Shipping & Trade, Economics, Business Administration, or another relevant field.
Your specific field of study is less important than your curiosity about international trade and shipping, your analytical mindset and your interest in working with data to understand and communicate market developments.
To be successful in the role, you ideally:
· Have an interest in shipping, international trade and global markets
· Are structured and detail-oriented
· Enjoy turning data and complex information into clear and structured insights
· Have an analytical mindset and are curious about understanding market developments
· Are willing to learn new subjects
· Can work independently while also being a team player
· Communicate clearly in written and spoken English
Experience with Excel, data analysis or market research is an advantage, but not a requirement.
Most importantly, you have a positive mindset, a willingness to learn and an interest in analytics that support real needs and create value for colleagues.
At MB Shipbrokers, we believe that diverse teams drive better outcomes. We strongly encourage applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, background or identity.
