Student Assistant for the Energy Transition team

Are you interested in the world of international trade, the maritime industry, and the energy transition? Does being part of a team that wants to grow new business opportunities together to help our brokers and clients make better decisions and help decarbonise the shipping industry sound like an interesting idea?

MB Shipbrokers Advisory Services is looking for an Energy Transition Student Assistant to help develop the emerging portfolio of energy transition offers and products for both internal and external clients.

We offer:

At MB Shipbrokers, you will become part of a globally recognised shipbroking company with over a century of experience, a strong international presence, and commitment to delivering excellence for our clients. You will join our Energy Transition team, collaborating with highly skilled professionals specialised in shipping finance, economics, technology, and the maritime industry energy transition.

Despite the busy nature of shipping, we recognise the importance of life outside of work and are committed to promoting balance and fostering a sense of community among our employees. With flexible working hours, weekly workout sessions, weekly access to padel courts, and occasional social events, we provide opportunities for employees to manage their studies, stay active, build camaraderie, and make all ends meet in their everyday lives.

Our Copenhagen office is conveniently located near Østerport station, the city, and the sea. We have changing facilities and our own canteen serving freshly made food every day.

Key responsibilities

The scope of work is centred around a broad spectrum of advisory and consultancy services for the maritime industry, and you will help identify, develop, and implement commercial business opportunities through:

· Analysing the commercial feasibility of energy transition project opportunities by developing background analysis, qualitative research including PESTLE impact analysis as well as financial modelling.

· Monitoring and analysing shipping decarbonisation regulations, their commercial and operational impact, and the evolving landscape of technical and strategic solutions.

· Taking ownership of a selected topic of interest and contributing as a subject matter expert, becoming a go-to resource internally and externally on your chosen area.

· Producing research material and structuring information on commercial projects as well as financing opportunities to support our clients in their strategic investment decisions.

· Assisting with preparing both external and internal presentations ranging from daily operations to high-level strategy.

Your qualifications and approach:

You’re the kind of student who’s never been content with just theory. While pursuing your bachelor’s or newly started master’s degree in business, finance, or economics, you’ve found yourself drawn to the bigger questions - like how the global shift toward sustainability is affecting traditional industries like shipping. The complexity of decarbonising the maritime sector doesn’t intimidate you - it fascinates you.

You’ve always approached your work with structure and curiosity. Whether it’s building a financial model in Excel or shaping a clear message in PowerPoint, you enjoy the process of turning data into insight. But you also know that there’s a big difference between classroom cases and real-world challenges - and that’s why you're looking to step into a role where you can learn by doing. You thrive in dynamic environments. You find energy in solving problems, switching gears, and supporting a team where needed. You’re naturally curious and not afraid to reach out, ask questions, or take the lead on a task when the opportunity arises. You bring initiative, accountability, and a mindset geared toward learning fast. And with strong communication skills in English, you’re ready to connect with people across teams and topics.
